Curtis Young is the firstborn of Dr. Dre whom he shares with his high school sweetheart Cassandra Joy Greene. When the boy drew his first breath, his dad was only 16 while his mom was 15.
In childhood, Curtis didn’t know who his father was but idolized Dr. Dre’s band N.W.A. At 12, his stepfather told him the truth and the boy started to seek for the ways to meet his dad. He contacted lawyers and made a DNA test to prove the rapper’s paternity. As a result, Curtis got acquainted with his biological father being 20 years old.
Curtis Young tried various odd jobs, like selling newspapers or working as a shop assistant, before he got involved into the music industry. He started rapping under stage name Hood Surgeon and released several albums, including Son of a Doctor and The Autopsy. Moreover, he portrayed Dre in DPG 4 Life: Tha Movie.
Today, Curtis is more concentrated on music production and runs Young Monarchy Entertainment company, which he co-founded with his wife. Additionally, he writes songs.
A curious fact: thanks to Curtis, Dr. Dre is already a grandfather. Young shares two sons with his spouse Vanessa. Moreover, Curtis is a stepfather to Vanessa’s two daughters from her previous relationships.
