Bio

Having got a psychology degree as well as being a graduate of Harvard Law School, David Otunga became an employee of the Sidley Austin law firm in 2005. However, in 2007, he quitted his career to star in I Love New York 2 show.

In 2009, Otunga made a professional wrestling debut using nickname Dawson Alexander. In 2010, he was chosen as a contestant at the NXT and finished as a runner up. In 2010-2011, he competed as a member of The Nexus and proceeded with fighting till 2015.

David Otunga became 2-time winner of WWE Tag Team Championship (1 with John Cena plus 1 with Michael McGillicutty) along with gaining 2 Slammy Awards. Now, he is a wrestling commentator.

David also had small parts in The Haves and the Have Nots plus Criminal Minds series along with appearing at Steve Harvey Show, Celebrity Ghost Stories and General Hospital. His feature film credits include The Call and A Madea Family Funeral.

David got acquainted with Jennifer Hudson in early 2008 via a mutual friend though Jennifer noticed him when Otunga was a part of I Love New York 2. David popped the question later that year but Hudson’s family tragedy postponed the wedding. In 2009, they became parents of baby boy David. In 2017, the sad news about the couple’s breakup appeared and turned out to be true. David and Jennifer battled for their son custody for over a year and half. Finally, they agreed to 50/50 deal.

Actually, their relationship was rather turbulent. Otunga claimed that the singer cheated him with music producer Mali Music while Hudson accused her ex of violence and physical abuse.

A curious fact: in 2014, David took a pause from his television career to support Jennifer at the trial of her former brother-in-law who murdered her mother, brother and nephew.
