Bio

Davis Guggenheim is famed for his filmmaking talent. He hails from St. Louis, Missouri. The future star was raised by mother Marion and father Charles, who is the most acclaimed documentary filmmaker and a winner of four Oscars. Obviously, it was Charles who sparked Davis’s interest in documentaries. Moreover, the star has two siblings named Grace and Jonathan, both of whom work in the film industry.

In 1992, Davis directed his first short film Breaking and Entering. Since then, he was responsible for the creation of a great number of documentaries, including It Might Get Loud, From the Sky Down and He Named Me Malala. However, his most successful project was 2006 film An Inconvenient Truth that brought him an Oscar. Moreover, the artist wrote screenplays to his documentaries Writing The Dream Is Now and Waiting for ‘Superman’.

Additionally, Davis Guggenheim works much on television. For instance, he directed some episodes of NYPD Blue, ER, 24, Alias, Deadwood and The Defenders. He also served as a producer of the latter two along with producing dozens of other projects, including Melrose Place and The Tower. Among Guggenheim’s big screen works are Gossip and Gracie movies.

In August 1994, Davis espoused actress Elisabeth Shue. Their firstborn, son Miles, drew his first breath in 1997. In 2001, the spouses welcomed daughter Stella. And in 2006, they were blessed with another daughter named Agnes.

A curious fact: when Davis was 17, his brother brought him a U2 album and he immediately fell in love with their music. What’s interesting, in 30 years, he got a chance to create a documentary about the legendary band titled From the Sky Down.
