Erik Asla is a visual artist and photographer famed for being an ex-boyfriend of supermodel Tyra Banks. Though he was born in Norway and keeps Norwegian ancestry, he currently resides in Los Angeles.
Erik started his career by being an assistant to photographer Herb Ritts. He gradually developed his skills by learning from Hern. As a result, Asla became a top photographer, whose photos appeared on the pages of GQ, Allure and Elle magazines. Moreover, he collaborated with such brands as Audi and Calvin Klein.
Erik Asla started dating Tyra Banks in 2013 after meeting her on the set of Norway’s Next Top Model in 2012. They tried to keep their relationship low key but it was published in 2015. Moreover, paparazzi often spotted them together.
In 2016, their son York drew his first breath. The boy was born by a surrogate mother as Tyra had problems with fertility. Banks underwent IVF procedures in aspiration to become a mom but they weren’t successful. In 2017, Erik and Tyra announced their separation while everyone was expecting them to tie knots. However, they remain friends and co-parent their son.
