We all love Pierce Brosnan for his portrayal of legendary James Bond, but he is a much more versatile performer. Hailing from Ireland, he worked hard to become Hollywood’s leading man while his charisma helped him to win the hearts of millions of women around the world.
Initially, Brosnan planned to deal with painting but commenced his professional acting path in the 1970s. He started with stage acting and in 1979, he made a film debut in Murphy’s Stroke. The performer gained fame in the 1980s thanks to playing in the Remington Steele TV series. In 1994, he embarked on his most famous role of James Bond in GoldenEye and proceeded with starring in Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough plus Die Another Day.
Moreover, Pierce Brosnan starred in dozens of other successful films. Among them are The Matador, Dante’s Peak, After the Sunset, Laws of Attraction, The Thomas Crown Affair, Mamma Mia! and The Ghost Writer. Brosnan also runs Irish DreamTime, a company which deals with the production of some of his movies.
Additionally, the celebrity is an activist and environmentalist. He works with UNICEF and Greenpeace along with selling his artworks and donating the money to charity.
On December 27, 1980, Pierce tied knots with Cassandra Harris. In 1983, he welcomed his firstborn, son Sean. Besides, the actor took care of Cassandra’s kids from a previous marriage, Charlotte and Chris, and even adopted them. Unfortunately, Cassandra passed away in 1991 because of ovarian cancer.
On August 4, 2001, Brosnan espoused journalist Keely Shaye Smith. She gave birth to his younger sons, Dylan in 1997 and Paris in 2001. Today, Pierce isn’t just a dad but is also a grandfather of three.
A curious fact: Brosnan is claustrophobic. His fear often hindered his work, especially when he was filming Dante’s Peak.
