Robert James Belushi is most famed for his acting credits. He is also a son of Jim Belushi and his first wife Sandra Davenport.
Robert got a bachelor’s degree in film studies at Wesleyan University and proceeded with studying at Chicago’s School at Steppenwolf and The Second City. However, while paving his way to popularity, he had to earn a living as a nanny and waiter. What’s interesting, Jim never pushed Rob to deal with acting but always helped him if he needed some practicing for auditions.
Belushi made acting debut as a child in 1986 short television film The Birthday Boy and proceeded with appearing on his father’s show According to Jim. He later had parts in many other television projects, including The Defenders, The Goodwin Games, How I Met Your Mother, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Mentalist, Chicago P.D., Ballers and The Off Season. In 2020, the celebrity became a host of Get a Clue game show.
In 2008, Robert Belushi debuted on the big screen in The Christians. Afterwards, he embarked on parts in Valentine’s Day, RiffRaff, Devil’s Due, Doubting Thomas and The Blackout movies. Additionally, he wrote and produced the short film Dylan. What is more, Robert co-owns The Comedy Bar in Chicago (with his father) and Prime Pizza in Los Angeles.
On June 29, 2014, Belushi tied the knot with Chelsea Wernsman who appeared alongside him in RiffRaff. In 2020, they announced that they were expecting their firstborn.
A curious fact: in 2013, Jim stated that Robert should be starring in John Belushi biopic instead of Emile Hirsch as he looked like his uncle and was of the same age as John when he died. But the production was postponed and in 2020, Adam Pally was chosen for that role.
