Talia Balsam is an actress who plays in movies and on TV. She drew her first breath in New York in the family of actors. Her father Martin Balsam is the winner of Oscar who is famed for playing in Psycho and A Thousand Clowns films. Her mother is Joyce Van Patten, whose most well-known credit is the horror movie Monkey Shines.
In 1977, Talia first appeared on TV in the Happy Days series and proceeded with the parts in Dallas, Taxi, Family Ties, Law & Order and L.A. Doctors. In the 2000-2010s, she played in Without a Trace, Mad Men, Homeland and Divorce series.
Talia Balsam made a big screen debut in 1979 film Sunnyside but gained more popularity thanks to The Supernaturals, In the Mood, Trust Me, Emmett’s Mark, No Strings Attached plus Little Men movies.
In 1984, Talia got acquainted with George Clooney while working on a play and romantic feelings arose between them. On December 15, 1989, they got hitched in Las Vegas. However, their family life didn’t last long and the marriage was dissolved in September 1993. Clooney later said that he shouldn’t have been married at that time and considered himself to be responsible for the marriage failure.
However, pretty soon, Balsam had a fateful meeting with another actor, John Slattery. They fell in love and tied knots on December 30, 1998, in Hawaii. In 1999, the spouses welcomed their only son Harry.
A curious fact: some of Talia’s relatives are also engaged into the entertainment industry. For instance, her cousins are James Van Patten, Vincent Van Patten and Nels Van Patten.
