Terrence Howard has managed to become successful in both music and movie industries. Having drawn his first breath in Chicago, IL, in the family of Tyrone and Anita Howard, he was raised by his great-grandmother, stage actress Minnie Gentry.
Before getting involved in show business, Howard studied engineering. In 1992, he made a television debut in The Jacksons: An American Dream miniseries and in four years, the performer reached fame thanks to starring in Sparks. Afterwards, he embarked on parts in Street Time, Empire and Wayward Pines series plus King of the World and Boycott TV films.
In 1993, Terrence debuted on the big screen in Who’s the Man?. Among his other memorable credits are Mr. Holland’s Opus, The Best Man, Crash, Ray, Winnie Mandela, Iron Man, Pride plus Hustle & Flow. By the way, the latter brought him an Oscar nomination. Despite his fame, Howard retired from acting in 2019.
Terrence Howard’s other passion is music. He plays the piano and the guitar, writes and performs songs. In 2008, he presented his debut album Shine Through It. Additionally, Terrence demonstrated his music skills opposite Jamie Foxx in Ray and performed his character’s tracks in Hustle & Flow.
From 1989 to 2003, Terrence was married to Lori McCommas, a mom of his daughters Aubrey and Heaven, and son Hunter. They remarried in 2005 but called it quits in a year. In 2010, the star tied knots with Michelle Ghent, but the woman accused him of physical abuse and the marriage was dissolved in 2013.
In 2013, Howard espoused Mira Pak. In 2015, they welcomed son Qirin. And in 2016, a baby boy named Hero joined the family. The spouses got divorced in 2015 but reconciled soon afterwards. In 2018, the actor popped the question once again. What is more, Howard is already a grandfather of two.
A curious fact: Terrence has synesthesia, a condition that makes him see colors when he hears the music and see shapes when he hears numbers.
