Bio

Travis Kelce is one of the biggest names in football and plays for the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL. Anyone familiar with Super Bowl betting will know that he could become a three-time championship winner this season.

Travis Michael Kelce was born in Ohio and attended his hometown Cleveland Heights High School. He showed an early talent for sports, representing the school in baseball and basketball as well as being the quarterback of the Tigers team.

A two-star recruit, Kelce accepted a full scholarship from the University of Cincinnati and teamed up with his older brother Jason. Jason is also now a professional football player in the NFL – for the Philadelphia Eagles. Kelce became a college football star at Cincinnati, winning first-team all-conference honors. Travis ended up spending five years at college, after being redshirted in his first year and missing an entire season because of a failed drugs test.

Kelce was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013 and possibly has his older brother to thank for that. Andy Reid had become the new head coach of the team in the offseason and had experience working with Jason when they were both at the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kelce can now be considered an 11-year veteran of the NFL and has played his entire professional career for the Chiefs. After signing an initial four-year £3.12 million rookie contract, he played just one snap of his first season after suffering an injury that would severely affect his ability to break into the offensive line.

He came back fighting fit in 2014 though, eventually scoring his first NFL touchdown in week three of the season. He has played just about every single game for the Kansas City Chiefs ever since, a feat virtually unheard of considering the fact that he plays as a tight end.

After six years of not being able to help his team get any further than the AFC Championship game, Kelce finally got to play in a Super Bowl in the 2019 season when Kansas City faced San Francisco at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. With the Chiefs losing with just over six minutes left in the fourth quarter, Kelce made a 1-yard touchdown reception to put his team back in contention. Another two touchdowns in the time remaining meant that Kansas City had won the Super Bowl for the second time in franchise history – and the first time in 50 years.

Kelce and his team returned to the Super Bowl just a year later but were unable to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with the legendary Tom Brady at quarterback. After a year of only making it to the AFC Championship game again, Kelce was back once again at Super Bowl LVII at the beginning of 2023, when his Kansas City Chiefs faced the Philadelphia Eagles. In one of the greatest championship games in recent memory, Kelce again scored a touchdown on the way to winning a second Super Bowl ring.

It has been another good year for Kelce on the field but it is away from football that he has been making headlines around the world. Earlier in the year it was rumored that he was dating Taylor Swift and the two have now confirmed as much. Thanks to his association with one of the biggest celebrities on the planet, Kelce is now probably the most well known NFL player, with a whole new demographic of fans following him and the Chiefs every week.

It is not as if Kelce has shied away from the limelight in the past though. As well as hosting a very popular podcast alongside his brother called New Heights, he starred in the reality TV show Catching Kelce back in 2016. Essentially a dating show, Kelce set tasks for a series of women, with the eventual winner going on to date the football player. He also appeared in an episode of the TV comedy Moonbase 8 as a fictionalized version of himself.

Figure 2 Kelce could become a three-time Super Bowl winner this season

Travis Kelce continues to be regarded as one of the best tight ends in the NFL – and in the history of the game – as his individual and team awards show. Whatever happens with his relationship with Taylor Swift, he has now become a sports athlete who has completely transcended the world of sports to become a celebrity in his own right. The future for Travis Kelce seems very bright indeed.

A Curious Fact

When the Eagles and Chiefs played against each other at Super Bowl LVII, Travis and Jason Kelce became the first siblings in history to square up in the championship game. They might even get to repeat that feat this season.
