James Marsden demonstrates astonishing acting skills on both TV and big screen. Hailing from Stillwater, OK, he was raised by nutritionist mother Kathleen and father James, an employee of LexiGene Industries. He has four siblings: sisters Jennifer and Elizabeth, brothers Jeff and Robbie.
James made a television debut in the 1993 film In the Line of Duty: Ambush in Waco. Afterwards, he embarked on roles in Ally McBeal, 30 Rock, Westworld, Dead to Me and The Stand series. Besides, the performer made guest appearances on many other shows, including Party of Five, Modern Family and Mrs. America.
Marsden’s big screen debut occurred in 1994 film No Dessert, Dad, Till You Mow the Lawn, but he attracted attention thanks to portraying Cyclops in the X-Men franchise. Among his other successful roles are the ones in Gossip, The Notebook, Enchanted, Hairspray, 27 Dresses, The Box, Death at a Funeral, Straw Dogs, The Best of Me, The Loft, Walk of Shame and Sonic the Hedgehog movies.
Additionally, James Marsden is good at singing. He recorded soundtracks for Gossip, Enchanted and Hairspray. By the way, the latter gained platinum certification.
On July 22, 2000, Marsden tied knots with actress Lisa Linde. In 2001, they welcomed the firstborn, son Jack. And in 2005, the family was expanded by a baby girl named Mary. However, their marriage was dissolved in 2011. In 2012, James fathered son William with Rose Costa, a woman he had a brief affair with. And in 2015, he got romantically involved with music artist Emma Deigman.
A curious fact: in X-Men, Marsden’s character was supposed to be taller that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine while Hugh was higher in real life. So, in order to look taller, James had to wear lifts.
