Tom Cruise got engaged into acting being a schoolboy but didn’t think that his skills would become his main source of income and aspired to become a Catholic priest. However, at 18, he made up his mind to deal with acting professionally and relocated to Los Angeles.

From 1987 to 1990, Tom was a husband of actress Mimi Rogers. It was she who sparked his interest in Scientology and helped him to join the church. Since then, the performer has been the Scientology advocate and wants it to be accepted as a religion in all countries.
On December 24, 1990, Tom espoused Nicole Kidman, whom he met while filming Days of Thunder. They adopted two kids: daughter Isabella and son Connor. However, their marriage ended in 2001 and Cruise got romantically involved with Penelope Cruz. They called it quits in 2004 and Tom proceeded with dating another movie star Katie Holmes. They tied knots on November 18, 2006, several months after their daughter Suri drew her first breath. But that marriage failed too and was dissolved in 2012.
A curious fact: Cruise was initially considered for the part of Iron Man/Tony Stark in the Marvel movies, but the role went to Robert Downey Jr.
